I became aware of Red Phoenix and her Brie Series through a friend. Since I’m open to reading new series and my friend raved about it, I thought ah…why not.
So, on a rainy Saturday, I pulled up the first book in the series, Brie’s First Day of Submissive Training up on my Kindle and snuggled in to read it. Of course my reading partner, Starbucks Venti Caramel Latte, was there to go along on this journey with me.
Let me tell you, after the first chapter, I found myself drawn into the book and the series.
It is very well written and the story will take you on an emotional journey, so be prepared for the ultimate roller coaster ride.
Red Phoenix’s Brie Series, is about a young girl finding her way and truly herself through the world of BDSM. Through a chance meeting with a Sir, she is given a card about a submissive training center. It was at this training center, she learned to become an accomplished submissive and ultimately found her Dom/Sir.
I’ve found many, many women face conflict when it comes to the subject of someone being a submissive. However, you find though this series, the journey for Brie wasn’t about being degraded or dehumanized.
No.
Brie’s journey was about a woman courageous enough to remove her mask and by doing so, she discovered herself and became a stronger woman through building a relationship with her Dom or Sir.
Quite the opposite of being degraded or dehumanized.
Through the six weeks of training, Brie is trained in many, many forms of play. And, let me just tell you…the scenes are HOT, HOT HOT.
And, did I say freaking HOT!
Her training Dom’s are sensitive and caring and understanding, as any real Dom should be. They of course are also stern and demanding and reprimanding. Again, traits a real Dom should have.
I found the author made sure all scenes contained the creed of BDSM; Sane, Safe and Consensual. The author also made sure to include aftercare, which was often missing from Fifty Shades of Grey.
I would recommend this series to anyone who is thinking of becoming a submissive, because as far as I can tell, the author did not leave out any aspect of submission.
Most importantly, she did not leave out the traits an accomplished Dom should have. Remember ladies, there are many, many men out there who claim to be a dominant and they are not. Know the traits of a real Dom and be on the lookout for them.
Note: There is a reading order to this series. I would recommend reading the books in order to get the full effect of the story.
The reading order is:
Brie’s First Day of Submissive Training (Brie, #1)
Brie Learns to Obey (Brie, #2)
Brie Learns Her Power as a Submissive (Brie, #3)
Brie Lives Her Fantasy (Brie, #4)
Brie Practices Her Oral Skills (Brie, #5)
Brie Embraces Bondage (Brie, #6)
Brie Surrenders to His Will (Brie, #8)
Brie Bows to Her Master (Brie #9 – The Final Week)

Red Phoenix’s hotness is why; she is my What to Read Wednesday pick for this week.
Get your inner freak on and make sure to grab these books!
