Interview with Beverly Ovalle @ovalleba & VBT-Touched by the Sandman

Touched Sandman - Tour Banner

Describe your novel in seven words or less?
An erotic dream of Happily Ever After.

If you were a tree (or animal) what kind of tree (animal) would you be?
A cat! I’d go where I wanted and cuddle when I wanted, LOL. I’d lay around stretched out in the sun.

What’s in your refrigerator right now?

A shelf full of homemade chicken noodle soup. I make lots extra because my daughter comes to steal it.

What inspired you to write your first book?

Seriously? LOL. This is going to sound really bad. I was watching SuperGator and another similar movie and then stayed up and wrote my first erotic romance, Dragons’ Mate. I know, I’m a sick woman!

If you were a Star Trek or Star Wars character, which one would it be?
Q. He has so much fun messing with the characters on Star Trek. I think he’s hilarious. I’m a diehard trekkie! Being a tribble would be fun too.

Where do you get your ideas for your books?

Anywhere and everywhere. Just seeing people walking can inspire me. On occasion I’ll wake up with an idea in my head. That is what happened with Touched by the Sandman. It was one of those dreams that stayed with me when I woke up.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
*blushing* Most of the reactions, er, I write mainly erotic, you know, are from personal experience. I imagine it would be really hard to write sex scenes if you’ve never had great sex.

Do you see body type as part of the character?
Not really. We all have the same parts no matter the body size or shape. I don’t go all out describing bodies, more the parts, LOL. Though I do like those washboard abs. I tend more to mention coloring or the feel of the skin.

Why did you start writing erotic/erotic romance fiction?
It really just flows off of my pen. I’ve tried to not write erotic and on occasion a couple of my stories are not as hot as others, but well, I like writing it and my writing tends to go there whether I want it to or not. I think bodies are beautiful no matter the shape.

How do you describe sex scenes and keep them from becoming repetitive?
That is really hard to do! Thank goodness for editors and beta readers. They let me know if it is too much. I also use the find button to see how many times I use the same word. I reread the sections to make sure. If I don’t like it I’ll change it but it has to fit the tone of the book. No throbbing purple headed man wands in a contemporary/PNR tale that’s for sure!

Do you think it is best to call body parts by their anatomically correct names, or come up with euphemisms?

It totally depends on the book. I prefer to call them by their correct names as I think it adds a bit of a dirty little thrill.

Is there any additional info you would like to share with your readers about what’s next for you and your books?
I am currently working on four books/novellas I am trying to finish by the end of the summer. It depends where my muse takes me. Three of them are actually follow ups to books I have out.

One of them is another contemporary military, Her Savior in Camouflage. A Marine rescues a kidnapped videographer in Afghanistan. We originally met Alejandro in A Saint’s Salvation. Another is a PNR dragon shifter book, A Dragon’s Treasure, where Drake finds his mate. Drake is introduced in Dragons’ Mate, though this one is not a ménage. The third is Willow’s Cry where a park ranger meets a tree nymph he just can’t help but save. It takes place in the same location as Lightning Strike.

My forth is one I’ve been working on since NaNo in November. Stealing Hope is a dystopian PNR involving dragon shifters and how mankind is surviving in the after math. Dragons once ruled the world and they are once again searching for their mates among the survivors. This one started out innocently enough, then POW sex scenes, LOL. My son is thoroughly disgusted with me. He told me to take the sex scenes out. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that not only is there sex, but ménage scenes involved. It takes an awful lot of dragon ‘magic’ to change a human into a dragon.

Here’s a little peek at an unedited view of Stealing Hope:

Ari groaned, pumping faster as Hope squeezed his balls. Holding her head still, he thrust and exploded into her mouth. He could feel Hope moan and swallow, each vibration making him shiver until he had nothing left. Ari pulled out of Hope’s mouth and leaned down and kissed her. Hope moaned as his tongue explored her mouth and his hands fondled her swollen breasts.

“I want you again.” Ari’s voice was harsh. He moved, kissing her neck, pushing her down to lay on the ground until he could suckle a nipple. Hope arched offering herself to him. Ari slid a hand down and slid a finger inside her heat. Hope froze. It had all felt good until then. Her body was sore and tender from his unfamiliar possession. Ari stopped and dropped his head against her. “You’re sore.”

It wasn’t a question. Hope nodded and Ari groaned. “A little.” Ari moved his finger in her and watched as Hope grimaced in pain.

“More than a little.” Ari removed his finger and slid down. Hope felt her body follow despite the pain. He chuckled against her belly. Crouching Ari moved lower, spreading her legs to fit between them. Delicately he licked her, soothing the pain. Hope sighed. Ari’s tongue was soft and the light licks had cream gathering. His mmm of pleasure sent ripples through her. The hot feel of his tongue entering her, leaving no pain, only pleasure had her humming and arching. He continued until Hope was whimpering in ecstasy. Ari took a finger and rubbed at the bundle of nerves crowning her slit, harder and harder until she came apart in his arms, screaming. Ari licked Hope clean, each swipe of his tongue sending tremors of delight through her until she lay boneless, spread above him.

Hope panted her body pliant and exhausted from the pleasure Ari gave her. She could feel his hot breath on her pussy, his silky hair on her groin and thigh. As she lay, she became conscious of the brightness of the sky and the breeze blowing lightly over her exposed breasts. She could feel the blanket under her, twisted and lumpy. Mostly she felt the thrum of pleasure Ari had given her.

The darkness blurred and shimmered, bringing to life a man of moonlight and darkness: Aryne.

Before him Aryne could see her, lying in bed, tears of loneliness staining her pillow. She made his heart ache. He softly stepped to her side. His hand touched her face and gently pushed back her hair. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, turning her dreams from sadness to joy. Her body arched toward his touch as the skim of his hand, the heat of his skin traced the edges of her curves. He stepped back…and then within the shimmer of dreams disappeared.

Night after night her loneliness cried to him. Unable to resist, he came to her. Subtly he inserted himself into her dreams, into her arms. Aryne knew it was wrong. As a guide, his job was to bring sweet, peaceful dreams. But no one affected him like she had. He was unable to resist comforting her, drawing her into his arms, covering her body with his…but only in her dreams. There Aryne stole the passion from her lips, igniting an ache in his body that would not go away.

Touching her shattered him. He knew instinctively that her touch would be his downfall. Her touch could keep him here in this splinter of his world, isolated as all of the Outcasts were. Generations had gone by; those exiled had died long ago, their children mixing amongst the races of the universe.

He had tried to stay away, fearing this. He was adrift, swept away, drowning in her passion, breaths away from losing himself. Giving in, acknowledging the power she unknowingly had over him would condemn him, keep him here if she was unable to travel to his world. Very few could navigate between worlds. And this world would drain his power rather than enhance it. Even the short time he spent there took its toll on him, the drain only in abeyance when he was in her arms. Try as he might, he could not resist her siren call. Only by controlling her and the passion between them could he make sure that he would not become lost. Lost in her. Trapped forever in her world.

He had done his best, gentling her to his hand, to his control. She knew the unspoken rules, knew the consequences. He played them out in her dreams, a dark symphony of passion and restraint. Perhaps unforgivable for a guide, but he could not resist. And just her body was no longer enough. Eventually he would capture her heart and soul.

A man of shadows, it would be during the midnight hours of her slumber.

A bit about me…

I often have visiting authors on my blog and give them a set of questions to answer. I thought I’d answer them myself for a change (the less serious ones, that is!).

Slow romance or straight to the chase?

A bit of anticipation is good but I can’t bear books that take 200 pages to get to the first kiss.

Hearth rug or picnic rug?

Hearth rug – there’s something about a real fire… though you do have to watch your bits with the sparks. Maybe a wood burner would be safer.

Furry or smooth?

Definitely. I know lots of folks like their men furry but I’d be there with a pot of wax and a razor.

Silk, leather or lace?

On my characters – leather of course! Though I have been known to stray into the realms of silk on occasion.

Blindfold or gag?

Why choose when you can use both?

By the campfire or on the beach?

Sand in your bits is not nice, so I’m going to choose campfire.

Whipped cream or hot wax?

If I’m the one applying it… hot wax. My characters have been witnessed with both!

picturinglysander_800Blurb for Picturing Lysander:

Photography, like love, should have no limits.

Lysander Brock is a talented photographer and capturing the perfect picture is his passion. His work takes him all over the world and he is famous for his willingness to take risks for the perfect image.

Kyle Dawson is tasked by his mysterious employer to obtain Brock’s services for a dangerous job and he’s prepared to use any method to ensure that the young photographer does as he’s told. Breaking and entering and blackmail are just tools of his trade.

Despite the circumstances, the spark of attraction between Brock and Kyle is strong. Brock’s addiction to adrenaline-fuelled adventure holds him captive, just as much as Kyle’s brooding dominant appeal. As a fragile trust builds between them, Kyle takes a gamble and tells Brock the truth about his mission. Can Brock accept the challenges ahead—as a photographer and as a man?

Author Bio:

Lucinda lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.

She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She’s fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.

VBT: The Flowering Series – Sarah Daltry @TSR_Promos

Flowering is the story of Jack and Lily. They’re college kids with their own issues, who manage to find each other. What starts as physical attraction and sexual awakening becomes so much more. Jack is troubled, with a past that makes it hard for him to see the future. Lily comes from a perfect world where she’s expected to play the role she was given. When they’re together, though, Jack becomes someone even he cares for, and Lily becomes whole.

This series is about growing up, about “flowering” into the person you become. It’s also about love and how it starts with one chance encounter and turns into a lifetime. Jack and Lily don’t have it easy, but they have each other. They’re not billionaires or rock stars or undercover agents; they’re just college kids looking to be a little less alone in the world.

Now complete in one volume. Includes the short stories, “Her Brother’s Best Friend” and “Morning Glory;” the novels, Forget Me Not, Lily of the Valley, Blue Rose, and Orange Blossom; and the novellas, Star of Bethlehem and Ambrosia.

Sarah’s Website / Twitter / Facebook / Pinterest / Goodreads

Sarah Daltry writes about the regular people who populate our lives. She’s written works in various genres – romance, erotica, fantasy, horror. Genre isn’t as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she’s been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships – romantic, familial, friendly – because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn’t matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, hissarahtorical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future – human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah’s stories.

Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun.

When Sarah isn’t writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking Facebook for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window.

Womance and The Marquesa’s Necklace by P.J. MacLayne @PJMacLayne

First, I want to thank you for this opportunity. I’m excited about my newest release, The Marquesa’s Necklace, and appreciate the opportunity to share it with your readers.

According to the Urban Dictionary, the female equivalent of a bromance is a womance. I don’t think it rolls off the tongue quite as well, but I can live with the term. Because I’m in a womance with Harmony, the heroine of the book. In fact, I like her so much that I’m already writing a second book with her as the main character.

She’s smart, feisty, adventuresome, and willing to take risks to protect herself and her friends. Although she’s a small town girl, she’s just as comfortable navigating around the streets of a major city. When you think you’re beginning to understand what motivates her, she throws a curve ball and makes you think again. And yes, she has a thing for James Bond.

Cover 7-16-14Blurb:

Harmony Duprie enjoyed her well-ordered life in the quiet little town of Oak Grove—until her arrest for drug trafficking. Cleared of all charges, she wants nothing more than to return to the uneventful lifestyle of a historical researcher she once savored.

But when her beloved old car “George” is stolen and explodes into a ball of flames, it sets off a series of events that throws her plans into turmoil. Toss in a police detective that may or may not be interested in her, an attractive but mysterious stranger on her trail, and an ex-boyfriend doing time, and Harmony’s life freefalls into a downward spiral of chaos.

Now she has to use her research skills to figure out who is behind the sinister incidents plaguing her, and why. And she better take it seriously, like her life depends upon finding the right answers.

Because it might.

Monday morning, I pulled up to the library in my brand new salsa red Jaguar. I could practically hear the vertebrae in people’s necks cracking as they twisted their heads to see. It was an F-Type V-8 S, and smokin’ hot. Definitely not a George. That snooty salesman never knew what hit him when I walked in wearing my old jeans, pointed to the car I’d seen on-line, and brought out my checkbook. He practically fainted when he looked at the check and realized it was for the full amount of the asking price of the car. Of course, the sales manager needed to call my bank before he handed over the keys. Now I had two new best friends. Too bad neither one of them was my type.

I considered doing my bit for the environment and buying a Tesla Roadster. But living in a third floor apartment it made it next to impossible to charge the battery. And the Jaguar was only half the cost of the Aston Martin I checked out, being a big James Bond fan. I could spend hours debating the merits of each of the actors who played him in the movies. Daniel Craig was my new favorite.

So I bought the Jaguar. I should be able to outrun anyone who tried to tail me now. Her name would come to me soon. Yes, a she. That much I knew.

The Marquesa’s Necklace is a cozy mystery and can be purchased at major retails.

VBT: Mountains to Climb by T.A. Chase @TaChase

mountainstoclimb_exlarge_PNG-210x336Sometimes the past can be the biggest mountain to climb.

Toby Schwartzel has never forgotten Jensen Brockhoff, the man he loved and the one who disappeared six years ago. He thinks he’s moved on, but when Jensen appears again and wants to explain what happened, Toby realises he hasn’t gotten over Jensen. He’d only built up walls to keep from being hurt again.

Jensen Brockhoff left New York City and Toby Schwartzel for several reasons. All of them had to do with drugs and alcohol. He’s clean now and the only thing he’s addicted to is mountain climbing. His passion for the sport has got him through the last six years. But after a particularly harrowing fall on Denali, Jensen knows he has to go back to tell Toby the truth.

Will Toby and Jensen discover they’d never moved past the love they had for each other all those years ago? Or are the mountains between them too high to climb?

Stepping in the bar was almost like getting hit by a car from the noise. Not that Toby Schwartzel had ever been struck by any kind of moving vehicle. He didn’t think a bicycle counted. He paused in the entrance to give himself a chance to adjust to the sound level and to scan the crowd, searching for any of the guys from the firm.

“Hey, Toby. We’re over here,” Simpson called from one of the back corners.

After acknowledging him with a wave, Toby wound his way to the bar where he ordered one of his favourite microbrews. While he waited for the bartender to pour it, he glanced around, checking out the possible hook-ups. It was Friday night and Toby didn’t have to work during the weekend, so he was looking for a little fun.

“Here you go, Toby.” Gray slid his mug across the wooden surface.

“Thanks, Gray. This is for you.” He slipped a five-dollar bill in the tip jar before taking a sip.

“I see your friend finally dragged himself out from whatever rock he’d been hiding under.” Gray jerked his head over toward the corner where Toby’s gang hung out.

“What friend?” He frowned as he tried to figure out whom Gray was talking about. All his friends were accounted for. Well, that he knew of anyway. He’d been so busy working on closing a big deal for a client during the last three months that he lost touch with a few of them that he didn’t see all the time at the office.

“Brockhoff. Saw him come in with Simpson.”

Someone yelled for Gray at the other end of the bar, so he shot Toby a quick smile before walking away.

Toby was frozen to the floor. What the fuck is Jensen Brockhoff doing back in town? Why the fuck hasn’t he called me in six years? The bastard couldn’t be bothered to tell me he was leaving. All I got was some ridiculous email about needing to get clean. Now he didn’t worry about letting me know he’s back. I should just leave.

His phone vibrated in his pocket and he pulled it out to see he had a text from Simpson.

Get your ass back here, fuckhead.

He should’ve known Simpson wasn’t going to let him leave.

I think I’m heading home.

Sighing, he pouted as he sent that reply. He’d been eager to relax, drink and take some stranger home to fuck him into his mattress. It’d been a while since he’d had sex with someone else. Lately, it had been his hand and his dildo.

Fuck no! Brockhoff isn’t here to see any of us. He wants you.

There was a winking smiley face at the end of Simpson’s text.

Toby rolled his eyes, still not convinced it was the best idea for him to go over there. He wasn’t sure he could control his need to punch Jensen in the mouth for leaving like that. Get a fucking grip! It’s not like you were partners or anything. Just friends with benefits. It wasn’t like he owed you anything. Yet he did think that Jensen at least owed him the respect of telling him that he was leaving town, instead of just disappearing. Maybe he shouldn’t feel so bad since Jensen hadn’t informed anyone else either.

Tough. You deal with him, Simpson. I’m going home. I’ll see you in the morning.

He finished his beer then set the mug on the bar, turning to push his way through the growing crowd to get to the door. Just as he was about to make his escape, Simpson stepped in front of him.
